I'll try to stand clear of this one!  :o Everyone is entitled to their opinion and Air Marshal is just very proud of his country's airforce  ;D  Perhaps one way to read "second to none" is that it is in first place, but another way to interpret it is that its simply not in second place  ;) We can all rest assured that there is at least one very strong PAF supporter at this forum!

I agree, he has all the right to be proud of his airforce. Just as i am proud of mine.  I would find it strange if you did not support your own countrys airforce if you have a flightintrest.  ;)

The primary mission statement of the PAF was given by the founder of Pakistan during his address to the passing out cadets of the PAF Academy Risalpur in 1948. This statement has been taken as an article of faith by all coming generations of PAF personnel.  :)

"A country without a strong Air Force is at the mercy of any aggressor, Pakistan must build up her Air Force as quickly as possible, it must be an efficient Air Force, second to none."

Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah
PAF Academy, Risalpur 13th April, 1948

Musharraf To Inspect Sino-Pak Fighter Jet
Musharraf To Inspect Sino-Pak Fighter Jet
Wednesday, February 22, 2006

BEIJING: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will inspect the multi-purpose JF-17 (Thunder) fighter jet, jointly manufactured by China and Pakistan, during his visit to southwest China's Sichuan province.

The maiden flight of the JF-17 was held on September 3, 2003, in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province. Sources also did not rule out a demonstration flight of the JF-17 for the visiting Pakistani general.

The JF-17 fighter jet project, which China and Pakistan jointly funded, started in 1999 when CATIC signed a co-operative agreement with the Pakistan Air Force.

Since then, CATIC, Chengdu Aircraft Industry Company, Chengdu Aircraft Designing Institute and the Pakistan Air Force have been developing the fighter jet.

Musharraf left here on Wednesday for Sichuan to continue his state visit to China during which he held talks with Chinese leaders, including President Hu Jintao, top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao.

He also witnessed the signing of 13 bilateral agreements ranging from trade and energy to agriculture and defence.

As his visit coincided with the 55th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Musharraf unveiled a series of commemorative events in Beijing.

In Sichuan, the hometown of giant pandas, Musharraf will visit a base of giant panda in the provincial capital Chengdu and meet with businesspeople there, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

If you are going to crack on the Pakis, I sure as heck wouldn't put the Indian air Force in that #1  equation ! True they have shot have shot down a few more PAAF fighters than the PAAF has theirs, but it has always been a case where the IAF had superior #s and newer acft .The IAF has FAILED to dominate the PAAF in the region of the world.I'd also nix the PLAAF- they have #s but they can't even knock over Taiwan, and the PLAAF has superior #s also..........
