Title: Cool site for Aviation magazine references
Post by: havillandhornet on April 25, 2011, 11:27:28 PM
Hi All,

This is a great site for finding references in old magazines (as well as various books and publications) - www.theaviationindex.com (http://www.theaviationindex.com).

I've headed to ebay a couple of times to pick up copies of old magazines for next to nothing based on the listings - many mags on ebay don't mention the contents of the magazine so its been quite useful - can't wait for it to get a little more complete.

My Favourites so far...

http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/combat-aircraft-magazine (http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/combat-aircraft-magazine)
http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/air-international (http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/air-international)
http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/aeroplane-aeroplane-monthly (http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/aeroplane-aeroplane-monthly)
http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/flypast-magazine (http://www.theaviationindex.com/publication/flypast-magazine)

Its particuarly useful for looking up particular aircraft and authors e.g.

http://www.theaviationindex.com/aircraft-types/general-dynamics-f-16-fighting-falcon (http://www.theaviationindex.com/aircraft-types/general-dynamics-f-16-fighting-falcon)
http://www.theaviationindex.com/aircraft-types/mcdonnell-douglas-4-skyhawk (http://www.theaviationindex.com/aircraft-types/mcdonnell-douglas-4-skyhawk)

http://www.theaviationindex.com/authors/roy-braybrook (http://www.theaviationindex.com/authors/roy-braybrook)
http://www.theaviationindex.com/authors/bill-gunston (http://www.theaviationindex.com/authors/bill-gunston)
http://www.theaviationindex.com/authors/warren-thompson (http://www.theaviationindex.com/authors/warren-thompson)

Does anyone have any particular favourite authors I should be looking out for? - often i've found a couple of the best have not written any books or anything and their magazine articles are all they have written
