Boeing 777

(1/2) > >>

bazooka:
I know this is a rather dumb question, but I read that the Boeing 777-200 or 300 series, I forget which one, has one of the longest or the longest range capable by any airliner. I asked my friends, but none could really provide an answer. Just wondering if anyone knew the facts on the 777 airliners capabilities, and wether or not what I read was true or not? I have not had a chance yet to look it up on line because my time online is limited because I share the computer with others. Thanks for putting up with me, and for any information anyone can provide.

Goose:
The 777-200LR is currently the longest range airliner in existence. The A340-500 is the longest range airliner in service. The 777-200LR was developed to win back the title from Airbus. It has just started flight testing and will be making a couple long range record setting flight in the coming months.

bazooka:
Thanks for the input Goose! :) How long do you think it will be until it goes into service?

Goose:
Sorry for taking so long to reply. It should be in service within 6 months. I can't remember which airline is the launch customer though.

Webmaster:
Looks like Boeing just launched the 777 Freighter. Air France being the launch customer with five aircraft on order to replace its 747-200F fleet. Air Canada followed last month. Delivery scheduled for fourth quarter 2008. The 777-200LR will be the platform for the new variant. According to the same press release, the first 777-200LR Worldliner will enter passenger service in January 2006.
