This evening it has been announced on the evening news here of a Qantas A-330 on a flight from Hong Kong to Perth experienced severe turbulence which resulted in the aircraft suddenly dropping several thousand feet.
This resulted in several people floating around and hitting heads and stuff.
Wow! Here comes another lawyer feast, greedy people's grab for money and over enthusiastic dirty socialist judiciary  awarding ridiculous damages.
Take a look at the incidents of the excellent A-330 and then think about the 5000 that are flying in the world each day.

What is going to happen here out of this latest so called class action of greed, is that it will become mandatory for all passengers to wear their seat belt for the entire journey and only be released from this obligation for a toilet break and then only if the weather is mild.
I don't blame any airline for bringing in these stringent rules to counteract customer and disgusting legal greed.

Duh.
Always wear your seatbelt while seated. The rest of the time you are accepting the risk involved. It's that simple--lawyers need not apply.

But hang on a minute. Qantas has told all passengers to do all they can to alleviate thrombosis of the arteries.
Wow, watch that work in the class action

Some people actually pay lots of money to free-fall a few thousand feet!
Qantas should charge everyone on that flight an additional fee for the thrill!
Seriously (for a change) I'd hate to be hit by one of those food carts, or a carafe of hot coffee ('scuse me, it'd be tea on Qantas, right?)

Yeah, but I'd make an opportunistic grab to save the lady flight attendants and find out of they have stay up stockings or panty hose.

Either one can be used as an emergency touriquet.
Do you remember a China airlines 747 SP that did what was essentially a snap roll while enroute to 'Frisco?
A while ago.

So would anyone agree there seem to be some issues with the A330's or is it just me?

Well, the fact is that some A330´s have experience some issues related to AOA spikes, however these issues only occurred with A330´s equipped with American made Northrop-Grumman ADIRUs.

In general, the A330 has an excellent safety record with only one fatal accident so far.

An here goes some more facts into the matter:

-Since 1965 there has been 158 fatal events with Boeing aircraft.
-Since 1970 Airbus had 26 fatal events.
-737´s alone have 67 fatal events under their belts, THATS 2.5 TIMES MORE FATAL ACCIDENTS THAN ALL AIRBUS MODELS TOGETHER.

There also another thing, right now everybody is talking about these small issues with the A330´s, but what about the 737´s? 737´s are known for having severe issues with their rudders, several accidents were caused by this specific part of the plane, yet even with the aforementioned statistics which are favorable to Airbus, everybody thinks, at the moment that Airbus are the bad guys.

Its obvious that i don´t mean that Boeings are worse, but its ridiculous to criticize Airbus when the fact is that they have a wonderful safety record, specially when compared with their main opponent.

P.S: I tried to attach a file with the report on the A330 AOA spike problems, apparently we are unable to post compressed files with Winrar, WEBMASTER YOU NEED TO IMPROVE THAT!!

When you consider the amount of all these aircraft that are flying in the world each day in all weathers, be it an Airbus or Boeing, the safely record of them all is virtually unbelievable.
The Boeing 737 for instance is the world's most common civil aviation airliner and something like 5000 are flying.
This must mean something to all of us, as when I fly somewhere today I don't even give a possible mishap a thought. It isn't even on my mind and I take it for granted that I will get there.

Its the exact same way with me, its a 1 in 8 million chance of dying, its about 200 times more probable to have a serious accident in our homes than dying in a plane crash.
There are millions of flights each year and only a very small part of them don´t get to its destination. On average 500 people die every year because of plane crash, in the other hand half a million people die in car accidents every year.

Dead right Suck. How would it be if it was as dangerous to drive cars? Bloody planes falling out of the sky everywhere.
Today's aviation standards are a marvel of our times.
When you even look at crashes, they are mostly pilot error or bad weather. How many are the actual failure of the aircraft? Virtually none.

Need to incorporate a virus scanner first then... can be anything inside a rar.

Well said, I can't stand it how all of sudden Airbus quality is being questioned now a few had problems this year.

About the original topic, yeah, lawyer frenzy (although I thought that was an American habit). But if the airline treats the passengers right and somehow compensates them a bit, I'm sure people won't go that far, or it can be settled outside the court at a more understandable "rate".
