Title: Australian destroyers

The three planned $7 billion warfare destroyers to be built by Collins-class submarine builder ASC in Adelaide are destined to become Australia's front line warships though to the mid-21st century.

The Federal Government has chosen Gibbs & Cox as the preferred designer for the RAN's AWD's.
G&C joins the team made uo if ASC shipbulder PTY Ltd, and Raytheon Australia.

G&C were chosen because they offered a superior bid in terms of value for money

Navantia's offer was $1 billion cheaper, they could have added a lot of capability for that money. Why don't they just say it: "We wanted a big US boat anyhow, this bid was set up to buy it within the laws."
