War with North Korea would:

a) Bring along massive civilian casualties. These people have nothing to do with their leader's crazy ideas.
b) Such a war would lower US popularity even more(yes it is possibe to go lower) and places like Pakistan, Iraq would not support anything US proposed anymore. We need Pakistan to fight in Afganistan you know.
c) South Korean economy would collapse if North Korea would collapse. South can not reunite the country with out a economic catastrophy.

SO to my mind we need to avoid full scale war at any cost.

You need to tell North Korea that Alyster, not the US and it's allies.
Unfortunately if North Korea gets sent to the stone age, they will have nuked someone in the region first.
