I also added antiterrorist teams, cause many special forces do both. let me know if i missed any that you would like to see on the list. :)
-
So, now i added a few more to choose between.. 8)
-
Thats quite a selection there!
Until this topic, I've never heard of a unit caled LOTAR Eilat. I did a quick Google on it and found out a bit more. Seems its not quite special forces in the traditional military sense of the word, but still very specialised in counter terrorism; specifically for the city of Eilat. Some interesting background information I found is here: http://www.isayeret.com/services/freecontent/lotareilat.htm

I only heard the name before. So i did as you, ended up on the same site. Yes, it is more of a swat-unit but since i did the search. I had to ad it to the list. :)
The selection could be even longer, many countries have more then one Special Force unit. I have tried to keep to the most known and higly trained forces. But still, if you think anyone is still missing just let me know and i ad it.
Did my "tour of duty" in the Swedish Airforce Ranger unit. One of the best 12 months of my life. :D

Thanks to all of you who voted, as you can see the S.A.S. got most votes (crushing victory) ;). That means that they are simply the best. ;D

No Brother, Pakistan have its own Team names SSG (Special Services Group) :)
-
Isent that what i said, or? ;) (Confused)

the ethiopians had a hijack on their national carrier once, and they just happened to have some of there army/SF people on board. long story short, the army people subdued the terrorist. they tied them to the seats, wrapped a towl around their neck to protect the upholstery, then they slit their throats on the plane- ethiopia hasnt had a hijack since
-
I read about that, happend in the early 70´s. Pretty harsh and coldblooded. Dont think i would ever be able to do that if the terrorist is already subdued. :-\
-
harsh yes, but no one else has had the guts to hijack an ethopian airplane again!
so i guess it was worth it
-
Does ethiopia even have a fleet of civilian planes any more?? ;)
-
super troopers rule!!!!!!
-
What's "sup troopers?"
-
its an old ass movie ,nvm u wouldnt understand ,but the best special forces are the SAS
-
You spelt SAS wrong. I agree, SAS rawks.
-
meh.. British SAS are too orderly..
id rather the Aussie SASR :)
-
to raptor no i didnt ..did i??/
adn to gripen ,yeah the aussies sas are very good 2 they proved that in vietnam
-
Yes, very good indeed.
-
i know :)
**go aussie go**
-
I preffer the Brittish SAS, but the Aussie SAS is probably equal. However they dont have the same history and success.
Who Dares Wins. ;D
-
Um, british SAS was formed in like 1940something, and ours was organised in like 197something
Sydney hilton bombing killed people, anti terrorist thing.. idk.. have it in a book. too lazy to go and get it tho :)
-
Yes, unfortunately, though, the Aussie SAS are opinioned as unorderly by most brits. But get-the-job-done kind of disorderly...
-
The British have all ways thought that our entire military is un orderly. Well, they did create us so they should blame themselves and not us.
-
Actually, if you're any proof, i'd agree with them. Lol. I've been to both down under and the Kingdom.
The Ozzies are more laid back than the Brits. They tend to be much more precise and formal about everything. Except in games...
-
Games?
Care to explain?
-
Oh. Sure. All the Aussies i've known take a game of 'australian rules' pretty much seriously, while the brits take a cricket match matter-of-fact-ishly.

LOTAR Eilat (ISR)
Sayeret Matkal (ISR)
2nd place: LOTAR (Anti Terrorist unit) and not in eilat only, just Lotar.
1st place: Sayeret Matkal- because to this unit recruited only the best men from the rest of the army. only the best and the chosen ones have the priviledge to serve there as a commando.
