Check out the new flight sim from Ubisoft.
Get ready to shoot down a Hun.

I don't know yet I have only just received  this from the auto notices from the Ubisoft site.
But I smiled at the first bars of the opening music, as it sounded like the old "European Air war" that I loved to play back in the late nineties.
By the way, there is nothing wrong with IL2. It's struggling a bit today with modern PPUs though.
I will be looking into HOE closely to see what the gurus say with the intention of getting into it.

Here's a screenshot

I think I remember European Air War, wasn't that one of the first with photo-realistic terrain? Only at higher altitudes though. Very enjoyable game iirc.

Nope, nothing wrong with IL2, but new games aren't always better. They look better, but often not as fun to play.

Well, keep us informed, in the mean time I have to get myself a new joystick (don't have a game port anymore, threw my old one in the trash bin).

Check out my gear. The Saitek X-52 PRO and back lit Logitech G-15 keyboard.
Fantastic.
That's my full rig below. Just the gear to get those Huns what?

Very cool! I'm thinking about going for the wireless one by Logitech, without a throttle.

I'm not familiar with that, but I have to say it's pretty neat to fly with the two piece. Realistic.
I always 'flight sim' in a pitch black room with only the computer system lighting showing to also give realism as shown in my rig pic.

True, but I don't do much flying, so I'd rather have a wireless one that I can put away and grap easily.

Later. Now I can't find any mention of this flight sim being made for PC.
This is contrary to Ubisoft saying at the beginning of the year that PC was making a come back and no new major games would come out without a PC version. Maybe to follow.

My nephew uses X Box360 and has a giant plasma screen but I thought it made the games look less realistic and I prefer the PC with a suitable Physx Processing Unit. As I said earlier, in a darkened room.

I bought a 106cm plasma screen for $800

I love it!

Makes the PS3 and Xbox360 so worth it  :D
