Title: Your favourite game
Post by: Viggen on November 12, 2006, 02:53:15 AM
I tried to put games from all types of consoles/ pc on the list. If you think some big title is missing, just let me know.  :)
I also tried to vary the kind of games, but i tend to end up with simulators of some kind.... :P

If you want to recomend a game, any type of game is ok. Let us know why you want us to try it out.  :)

Btw, any gametalk is very much ok here. So let it all out...  ;)

Oh my... how am I ever going to decide between these!? Maybe you should turn on multiple votes per user. You can't ask me to choose between C&C and GTA for example, impossible!

Anyway, you should add Need For Speed (series) as well.

Maybe you don't know it, but I found MiG-29 Fulcrum from Novalogic quite good, specially if we take into account what it needs to run. Anyone knows it??
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Webmaster on November 15, 2006, 11:11:02 AM
Yes, I know it, but never played it I think. Wasn't that around the time of F-22 ADF and numerous other combat flight sims, F-15E, JSF, Havoc, Falcon, and all the others that came all at about the same time?

Ok Viggen, I voted for GTA and C&C. But then I saw Rainbow Six in the list, and you added NFS. Come on, it's just too difficult! Seeing all these game titles kind of makes me think of all the time I wasted on playing them. Oh my god.

Anyway, we could keep adding titles to the list, you forgot some nice series, probably because they are not action games:
- Civilization
- Settlers
- Sim-series before The Sims
- Transport Tycoon and all the other Tycoons originating from it
- Jane's flight sims

Ok, maybe I am getting old...

Ok Viggen, I voted for GTA and C&C. But then I saw Rainbow Six in the list, and you added NFS. Come on, it's just too difficult!

Well you know i like to torture you guys!  ;)  I voted for Battlefied2, can you belive that??? The dogfights suck in this game, but i do like to snipe.  ;D

I love the Rainbow Six series but also MS flight sim. I do tend to spend time infront of Forza Motorsport also. So i find it very difficult to vote also.  :P

There is hundreds of titels out there, cant add them all. Lets say that if it aint on the list, it does not mean its a bad game. I just tried to add as many popular games as possible i could come up with at the moment. Lets try not to make this list to big.  :)

Oh, and one more thing...when do you guys think they're going to stop making new games for the ps2? that would just kill me watching the new CoD title come out but not be on ps2. So what do you guys think?

What i have heard so far is that the new CoD wont be released for PS2, a big shame. I know i cant afford to buy PS3 or the Xbox 360. So maybe its time to just sell the old PS2 or Xbox and put the money on upgrading the PC.  ???

Oh no are you serius? I cant afford a ps3 or X-Box 360 right now iether :( I thought they were going to make new games for ps2 for a while. So where did you hear about this?

I heard this from a brittish guy while we were playing BF2 online, he was in my unit and we just chatted a little online through the microphones while the war around us had settled down for a moment. So dont take this for something that is 100% certain, i dont.  :)

Btw..Here you can check out the latest news about upcoming games and trailers for all consoles and pc.

Thanks Viggen. I have BF2 online too. However I play CoD 3 online way more than BF2...its been a couple months since I've played BF2 online.

They are going to keep making games for the PS2 for upto 5 years AFTER the realease of the PS3. The range wont be good because the PS2 is out dated, but there will still be games on it.

my guess is itll be the reject games that no one likes, like the PS1 games you can still buy for like $20AUD

No problems Cobra2!  :) I got may hands on BF2 just about 2 months ago, as did two of my best friends. So thats why we are playing it so much at the moment. Always fun to have team with your best friends and blast you way forward to capture flags or blow stuff up.  (Whats your nick on BF2?  Would be fun to check out your stats.) ;D

-Gripen-

You are very right. I noticed that already the prices are dropping very much on games, gamepads and memory for PS2.

Btw what do you guys think of Nintendo Vii, for me its a very strange way of playing games. Dont think i will be able to handel that strange gamepad. ;)

I played with the Eyetoy for PS2, videotaped it. You look really silly when waving your arms in the air, but that was fun and you got a real exercise. ;D With the new Nintendo you will be waving that gamepad around in the air, must look even worse..  ;)

I was never to much into WWII games, but i did play BF1942/CoD2 alot.  I recently got my hands on a copy of NFS Carbon. My personal view is that this is the best of the series. Really nice to get a break from more serious racing games. Just floor the pedal and race to the limits and beyond.  ;D
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Cobra2 on November 19, 2006, 04:10:59 AM
WWII games are my favorite. I like how CoD3 has the more CoD: Finest Hour feel to it. CoD2: Big Red One was a great game but it just didnt feel right ya know? its not chaotic enough...and way way way too linear. CoD3 is great though.
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Viggen on November 19, 2006, 05:43:16 AM
Ok, that sounds much better. Maybe i should give CoD3 a chance then.  :)
Title: Re: Your favourite game

Yes, definitly get it...(if you still can)...Viggen, are you going to buy it for the ps2? because thats what I have. And does anyone know if the PS3 online version of CoD3 maps are bigger than the PS2 version of online?

Honestly i dont use my PS2 very much, just been collecting dust for over 6 months now. Last game i played on it was Ace Combat 5. I have recently invested in a new pc, so i play most games on this beauty insted.   :)

I have a router and stuff with Armstrong (Zoom) internet and a wireless connection thing but do you think that my comp usually 36, 48, and 54 MBPS. But I dont have a graphics card and special stuff. Heres its specs:

330 Intel Celeron D Proccessor 330

120 GB Hard Drive

256MB DDR SDRAM

Intel Graphics Extreme 3D

Is all of this stuff fast enough to download games and play them and stuff? what do you guys use?

Its enough to play online, but if you want to "speed" up you pc a little bit. I suggest that you get at least 1Gb of SDRAM. It will make your pc work more stable. A new graphicscard could also be in place. Try to find one with 256Mb or above.

The graphic-card issue is always a pain in the butt. There is so many diffrent on the market. The latest cards support DirectX 10, that is what i would aim for. But since they are so new, they cost a fortune.  :)

Yeah, I can already play online with my PS2 and its pretty cool but I want to play BF2 and CoD3 and games like that online with the computer because of bigger maps and more vehicles and stuff like that. Thanks Viggen.
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Viggen on November 20, 2006, 11:18:06 PM
Onlinegaming is a bit special. It is important to have a good rate of both up and download-speed.  Since you are playing on big maps, there is alot of information that will be passing between you and the server. When there is not sufficent rate of information being traded, then you have that well known "lag".

For example: I have 2Mbit up and 2Mbit down. Lower then this would probably get you in trouble on 64 player maps. I get a little "lag" sometimes, but it helps if i turn my firewall off.

My specs.
Processor: Pentium4 650, 3.4 GHz
Hard drive: 200 GB SATA
Video card: XFX GeForce 7800GT 256Mb PCI-Express.
RAM: 1 GB

I just finished COD 3.  The only thing that i can fault with it is that it is too short.

AND I AM NOT GETTING MARRIED!!

Is Carbon any good?
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Viggen on December 05, 2006, 05:05:38 AM
Carbon is ok, some new cool cars (Porsche Carrera GT)  ;D. But i just did not find the time to spend on customizing everything on them. All you need is a nice paintjob, cool rims and the preformance parts. The Stripes, wings , body-kits dont make any diffrence on the cars handling or decide any outcomes of the game..

I did find the game to easy and short. But as a game for petrolheads, they are going to like it. You start the game with choosing wich class  you will start in. Muscle, exotic or tuner.  This will change as the game progress, you win some new cars or buy others. So you are not locked and can race in any of these classes.

Anyway, its a fun game. But realism is not the issue in NFS Carbon or any of the series.  :)

And yes I agree Gripen, it is to short I think..the missions are also kinda too easy dont ya think? some are challenging like the end part of "The Black Baron" even that was pretty easy, PS2 version. Anyway, I have Heroes of the Pacific coming (shipping) does anyone know if its any good? I watched some videos and it looks pretty good...plus, the reason I bought it is for the online dogfighting WWOOO!!! is it good? I've been looking for a WWII dogfighting game.

The Plymouth Cuda
Chrysler 300C

I love Rainbow Six, but I am not too sure about this one, I never really liked those nightclub/hotel/theatre maps, and I guess in this one it will be a lot of casinos. That's SWAT territory?! Let me know Viggen if they included some nice maps outside the down-town las vegas maps. I always liked the airport and military installation maps. I guess the developers went this direction on purpose, to avoid becoming another Middle-East war game and keep it focused on traditional terrorism.

I found out it is AC-5. Anyway, I have a computer that I want to play online with and my cousin said that without a huge graphics card I could only play games from 2 years ago and before...how old is Lock-on: Modern Air Combat? Thats the only game that I absolutely need. is has 250-some MBs and 150-some KBs or something and Extreme Graphics 3D or something...and I'm running off of a router to another computer and I'm with Armstrong Zoom Internet and will be running it from a Ethernet Cord with High-Speed internet. And my cousin said you can down-grade the graphics so your computer can run it. Can someone please help me? thank you.

Hey Cobra!

I have Lock On: Air Combat Simulation, (Its the first version released).. Its a cool dogfighting "flightsim".  But i never play it anymore, i kind of got bored with it when my old PC was not up to its standard. It kept shutting down on me and acted wierd, (the game that is). But this was because i did not have a sufficient graphicscard. You do need one graphicscard with a minimum of 128Mb and at least 512Mb RAM.

I dont know the specs for Modern Combat, but i do belive you atleast need the same or a bit higher.
Celeron Windows XP 256GB RAM You probably mean 256Mb RAM.  ;) But like your cousin says, you can downgrade the graphicsettings under "options". Just test you way forward and see what works best. Then if you are not satisfied with the graphics, you can upgrade the hardware.  :)
Title: Re: Your favourite game

Really?!?! so I have hope to play it? oh, and one more thing...does your connection speed affect your gameplay or not? (incase my comp goes crazy) and it wont crash my computer for good will it? and do I ABSOLUTELY need a graphics card? can I play without one if I downgrade the graphics a bit? and how long does it have to download/install?  sorry for all the questions viggen  :-[ but I've been waiting for a flight sim for soooooooooooo long!! thank you so much Viggen for the help  :)

PS: Yes, I did mean MB not GB  :-[ :-[ :-[

How much is a graphics card? and can I play with what I have now and just downgrade the graphics a little bit or more? and how much would I have to downgrade to make it run smoothly?

Also, can you do the "Mission Editor" or whatever its called where you make your own missions and just play a custom mission and delete it? and do you do that in the game menu or at a site?

one more thing...can I play the game with 256MBs and no graphics card? and would I have to turn down the graphics a bit? and say a game takes 120MB and your comp has 130MB does that mean you only have 10MB left or isnt that counted as memory? just what it takes to run the game?
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Viggen on January 19, 2007, 12:07:04 AM
There is no way you can play the game without a graphicscard. 95% of today games are 3D based models, you need the card so your pc understands all these polygons and effects.  Like 10 years ago some games had software possibilities to run 3D-graphics without a card, real crappy stuff.  :-\

Some of todays software that helps the graphic-card to understand the effects and advanced 3D-models are DirectX. But you can not substitute the card with only the software. The games do not allow it. The cost of a reasonable card is not that expensive, you really dont need the latest model on the market. It would just make you loose a lot of money. See if you can find a 128Mb or 256Mb card from Nvidia or ATI. There are more brands on the market, that are cheaper, but these two are the ones that lead the way and the ones that first surfaced in my mind at the moment.  :)

The RAM in your pc and the memory on the card work together in such way that you card deals with all the calculations of heavy graphics, and the CPU with the RAM takes care of the rest. So one without the other is acutally of no use. If you run your PC with 2Gb of RAM but without a graphics-card, you would not be able to play the game or the other way around. (without any RAM you would not even be able to start your pc).

So for example when the game needs 128Mb graphicscard, 512 Mb RAM and 2.3Gb Hd. Then this is usally the minimum requirements to be able to install and run the game with the lowest-medium settings in graphics. Now,  you can run the game with less RAM, but it will behave sluggish. Loading the game takes a long time. Clicking through the menu also just takes alot of time, everything on screen works very slow but your PC is working like crazy.  Now lets say you have sufficent RAM but your card is only 32Mb, then once your in the game you will need to downgrade the graphics really much. You will loose all detail and effects on the models, and the surrounding. You will prabably even experience "Lag" while playing.

About  playing online... The connection speed does affect the game. But mostly if you play on big servers with alot of people. Then you need to send and recive alot of information, this might even affect your graphics in such way that you need to downgrade on some effects (shadows, lightning etc). The connection and the PC overall cant keep up with all the information being transferd with 10 fast jets dogfighting and blowing stuff up.

I tried my best to explain this to my ability in english, hope you understand the most of it and what im trying to say. And maybe it is not the news you wanted to hear but if you have more questions just ask and i´ll try to help.  :)

 :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'( Oh no.
I can't downgrade enough that it will work ok? even if its just a little bit sluggish is ok if its not to bad...how much do graphics cards go for? but there is NO WAY POSSIBLE that I can play the game?....AT ALL? I dont need to play online...just mission editor...but any graphics card over $20 is to much for right now.

BUT THERE IS NO WAY WITHOUT A GRAPHICS CARD THAT I CAN PLAY THE GAME IN MISSION EDITOR EVEN IF ITS DOWNGRADED ENOUGH???

note: the big letters are just stuff I want you to read and reply to the most.

But wait! Lock-On: Modern Air Combat without upgrades like Flaming Cliffs and others is from like 2002 or 2003...and my cousin said with my computer and no graphics card I can play games from 2 years or earlier....is this true? I'm not gonna use add-ons like Flaming Cliffs...so will it work if I do that? it is like 4 or 5 years old  ;) so will it?

note: I replied on the previus page too so don't forget to look there.

PS: please answer these questions like you have been :) especially this post. Also, thanks for the help Viggen, I appreciate it  :)

No problems Cobra!  Glad if i can be of any help.  :)

Honestly i dont know how the game will work while playing only through the mission editor, since i have never tried it. Just give it a go and see if it works. You just might get lucky!  Truthfully i have even not realised it had a mission editor.   :)

Without a graphicscard of some sort, you wont be able to play the game at all, not even in mission editor. That im sure of. Finding a cheap  card is not that hard, just search on Ebay or on other auction website. You can always get your hands on good cards cheap. I dont know what the dollar stands in compared to Swedish crowns, so i cant tell you an exact prise. But i think that tech-stuff usally are cheaper in the States then in Sweden.

Your cousin is right, but that does not mean every game. Flightsimulators of all kind always need and needed a powerfull PC. For an example, My PC is less then a year old, with all the new technologi and goodies. But i cant fly in MS FSX with all the graphic settings set on maximum. The sim requires only a 32Mb graphicscard, mine is a Nvidia Geforce 7800GT 256MB. Still it is very bad. I can run the game on medium settings if  i want the sim to flow on the screen, any higher and it just lag in flight. This is due to the developers programming. Not much i can do about it unless im made out of money.

The only real way to know for sure is always to test your way forward. Diffrent PC´s behave diffrent even if its the same game. It all gets down to the hardware.  This is why i dont want to be optimistic in your case. I dont want to promise you that it will work and then you perhaps get dissapointed when it does not. I´ve been through that plenty times enough myself.

Try out the game, if it will not work, I can help you find a cheap card or recomendations based on how and what does not work when you tested the game.  :)

Your a good person Viggen  :)

so your not saying it will work....but it might? right?

anyway, what kind of cheap card that will work do you suggest buying? that will work for Lock-on: Modern Air Combat.

thanks again Viggen.

This is what a graphics card looks like? tell me I dont have to take apart my computer to install this  :'(
I'm guessing you dont stick this in a slot right?
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Cobra2 on January 20, 2007, 01:33:37 AM
I guesse you need a 'Driver' or something too besides having to take apart your computer  :'( :'(
So iether with very much luck I can play with graphics turned way down or not play my game at all  :'(  :(

If I dont have a graphics card and I still try to install it it will probably crash my computer and it will need rebooted right?

Oh, Viggen, by the way...dont all comps have a built in graphics card? mines a Windows XP 256MB, 120GB, Intel Celeron, Extreme Graphics 3D

note the EXTREME GRAPHICS 3D...what about that? plus and XPs are for gaming...so will it work now?  ???

I think I'm trying to hard  ;D

Hey, i know how it feels. I have been there more times then i ever wanted. It really sucks when you cant afford new or the latest hardware just to be sure you can play a game.  :-\

Extreme Graphics 3D is probably built into your PC. Its a sort of graphicscard, but it wont have the same preformance as a "loose" one. But your PC seams to be relative new, so it just might work.  :)

The card on the picture is a S3 64Mb, cant remember the maker of those cards (Virage???).  My brother had a 32Mb version in his old PC. You do need to open up the computer to install or remove a graphicscard. They usally sit in the AGP or PCI slot, you cant put it in the wrong one.

When buying a card, you get a CD with the correct drivers on. You uninstall the old drivers. Turn the PC off. Make sure the powercabel is unplugged. Then it is just opening up the side, remove one screw and then it is just pulling the card out slowly. Attach the new card on its right place (AGP or PCI). Screw it all together. Start the PC up again, you can put the CD with the drivers in the CD-rom or DVD-drive. You PC will search for the new cards driver and install them. Then you make the last settings by right-clicking on the desktop. Choose "properties", then "settings". Make the changes that suits you and finito.  :)

Lock On: MC-specs.

Windows(r)98/ME/XP/2000
Pentium III 800/AMD Athlon 600 or better
256 MB RAM (512 MB RAM recommended)
3D video card (DirectX 8.1 compatible) w/32MB RAM (128MB recommended)
Sound Card (Direct 8.1 compatible)
DirectX 8.1 or higher (included on disc)
4X CD-ROM or better (Not recommended for use with CD-RWs)
(Internet connection (56 kbps or better) or LAN for multiplayer)
Hard Drive Space 1.1 GB

I suggest a 128Mb or 256Mb AGP-graphicscard of whatever brand you can afford. Most cards today are of high quality even the cheaper ones. Btw make sure you have an AGP-slot on your motherboard first, (grey rectangular slot). These work faster on older machines. The AGP can send and recive more information faster then the PCI-slot.

You defenatly need more RAM, Lock On: MC recomends atleast 512 RAM. I can almost bet that your PC is working a bit slow now. But i recomend this because of what i have heard and been taught,  that Win XP needs a minimum of 1Gb RAM to work optimal. Anyway im working from my point of view, meaning what i would of done if i had your hardware and wanted to play Lock On: Modern Combat.  :)

Just out of curiosity, what speed does your CPU have?

If I dont have a graphics card and I still try to install it it will probably crash my computer and it will need rebooted right? It will probably crash once you try to start the game or it wont even let you start it. But nothing will happen during the installation.  :)

Hope i did not forget anything...  8)

Before you try upgrading anything you might want to check with a professional. For RAM memory you can check your mainboard manual, harddrive are not to difficult as long as you get the right one for your board and PSU and remember to set the jumpers correctly. For about everything else today, you just need to get the correct drivers in most cases. There are two exceptions, upgrading your graphics card and upgrading your processor... it's better to have a professional look at it first, especially when it's been some years since you first bought it. Why am I saying this?

I bought a XFX 7600GT (GeForce) 256MB AGP card, it fitted, I upgraded my power unit, and tried everything to get it to work. I am not completely stupid when it comes to computers. Anyway, after spending a few days without good result, I knew it was not the heat, nor the power, I went back to the vendor... the card was working, so I suggested it must be my mainboard. No, the support guy said, can't be, because of external power, and we have it running here on an older processor, blablabla. Must be your installation, re-install... So I re-installed everything, didn't work. Went back with the PC, was lucky because I had a good support guy this time, one look at my mainboard, and he told me that the graphics card had fucked up the power management inside the board. The board clearly could not handle this card. He told me I needed a new computer, and I agreed, so I got my money back and am saving for a new computer now... which kinda stinks because I also want to buy a new lense for my camera.

Just in case your wondering how old my PC must have been... 4 years, with a KT600 mainboard and Athlon XP 3000+ processor.

By way, works fine with the FX5600 256MB card, although I have to play FS and BF2 at low quality.

OK one last question, since I dont think Lock-on will work yet I think I'm going to have to resort to MS flight sim 2001 that my sister used to use for training when she was training to be a pilot when she was 14 years old  :o
anyway, do any of you think it will work on my comp with no graphics card? (my sister never used one and it played fine with no lag) I just need to fly something. Thanks.

What do you think?

Well, I tried flight simulator and it works great!  ;D the one that I fly the best is the Sopwith Camel  :D it has 4 controls...Cessna is quite easy to fly :) but the Concord and Lear Jet are pretty hard.
Anyway, I wanna fly a military plane of course...didnt one of you say that you can download them?

Well, i recently spent some time finally with Rainbow Six Las Vegas.

It is definatly a "must have" if you are a fan of the series. The combats are great, you are not just walking next to a wall anymore. You can walk with your back up against it, leaning slowly around the corner. Checking if there is enemies, then engaging them. Knowing where they are makes it a bit easier, but the feel of the engegment is much more realistic.

The shootouts work geniously by taking cover behind obstacles, laying cover fire or engaging a enemy that is foolish enough to put his head up to high. It is more action then before but the tactical knowledge is there too, since you and your team cant just rush forward. The enemy takes cover and slowy working their way towards you from different angels once they are engaged in combat. So far the "AI" of the enemy has worked flawless.

Graphics are good and so is the sound, but controlling the team is a bit diffrent then earlier so i have not yet got used to it. This in turn makes me do some tactical misses. For example, i sent my team into a room filled with bad guys without checking. They managed to take the enemy out, but they sure told me of my mistake.

So when you are going to clear a room, you are supposed to use the fiberoptics. Then you can "tag" some of the enemies and send the team in from a diffrent door, while you go through the first one. By "tagging" an enemy the team takes out the ones you have marked and you can take out the closest one to you. This way you get a tactical advantage when rescuing hostages. The team are not shooting on the one enemy closest to the door, but spreading the firepower where it counts. This may sound pretty advanced, but it is not. Just a few simple clicks and you can let a hellstorm rain over the terrorists.

So far i have only seen improvments that work well. i have not yet made my way through the first stage so i might be a bit overimpressed. Compared to Battlefield 2, RS Las Vegas it is much better. Since a headshot is deadly from any kind of weapon, you always think twice before sticking your head up during a firefight. It is just more realistic overall, and realism is what makes a game great in my eyes  :D :D :D

Me too Viggen  :) I'm glad you like your game.
I have another question though, since Flight Simulator 2000 works almost flawlessly on my computer with no lag do you think it could handle Lock-on Modern Air Combat the same way? and if it has to be done I could do so tweaking to the graphics to make it run better but in general do you think it will work ok? and it cant ruin my comp right?

And thanks for the link I cant wait :)

Tweaking the graphics in a game does not ruin your computer. Tweaking a graphics-card on the otherhand may result in serious problems if its not done correctly.  :)

About the extra aircraft for Flightsim, always read the "Readme-file". It usally explains how and were to put the files. It might seem pretty advanced in the beginning, but once you find your way around the folders its a pice of cake.  :D

Lock on doesnt work but I got the plane add-ons to work.
My first download was to Tu-95 Bear....but why doesnt it have avionics  ??? nothings inside the cokpit  :'(
I heard something about other downloads for avionics and texture and stuff so is that what I'm supposed to do? do I just download the avionics into the plane setup?
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Cobra2 on February 07, 2007, 07:46:48 AM
Ok, I figured out about the cockpit thing...I have to download one that fits the plane to it unless the creator made a panel.
But I want naval fleets and stuff to land on  >:D so the plane downloading was a piece of cake once you get used to the folder stuff. So to upgrade scenery and get panels and stuff is it the same as what you do with the plane downloading only putting the file in the 'scenery' file or 'panel' file right? thanks.
Title: Re: Your favourite game

Cobra, you are already sounding like a pro at this.  :) Soon i will be asking you for help with flightsim.  Just remeber that not all panels are compatible, even thou they are made to the same aircraft. It all depends on the developer.

We have all runned into problems with flightsim sometimes, and if you take your time. You usally fix it. If you dont, then it´s just deleting the last aircraft added or file and then you are back in buisness.  ;D

I liked Battlefield 1942. But know after trying out all of these WW2-shooters, they just annoy me.  :)  I become really tired of them, give me realistic modern warfare for god sakes. Not even Battlefield2 is satisfying my needs, mostly because of the crappy way they "sim" the aircraft and their weapons.  >:D

Btw, has anyone here tried Americas Army, is it any good?  :)
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Cobra2 on March 02, 2007, 08:08:38 PM
Yeah Vigg I agree...I've seen a video of Battlefield 2 for the computer and the aircrafts AAMs fire like machine guns  :P...its so, so, so sad that BF2 online for the ps2 does not have planes...only helicopters and nobody lives longer than 7 minutes in one  :'( :'( and your own team members kill you just so they get to fly and if you get it first they fire at you or blow you up with C4  :'( :'( :'(

Americas army is 2 complicated it took a long time just to fight in a war ,training is very long ,its very realistic ,so realistic that sometimes is too hard ,if u want modern war sims try Arma Armed Assault

I of course woted on Halo series.  This becuse it have given me most joy in longest amount of time. In my opinion Halo is the first FPS that has good aim on a console.

FPS games are alwayes better with mouse and keyboard  but not the Halo series.

With a little luck we might even have Tunnan and Lansen joining also one day perhaps. Who knows?

About BF2. I saw a documentary recently about gaming. Called "Game Reaction", where arabs where complaining about this game. Why americans have made it, and why its so fun killing arabs and the violence against your own city, (Showing a Cobra attacking the flag). For me this just shows how twisted view some people have. They should get their fact straight before going on TV and saying stupid things.

1. You always play on both sides.
2. There is chinese troops also.
3. There is no blood and no mutilation.
4. Its capturing the flag. There is no civilians in these villages.
5. The game is made by Swedes, not Americans.
6. Its a GAME, it has nothing to do with real life.

Anyway, i truly recomend this documentary. 90 minutes of the gaming history and peoples view of all kind of games. From past to future.  :)

Mercanairy games are funner coz u kill everyone :)

Its not the killing that is fun in the games. Its the competition and the tactics you employ.  :)

If you are just after a game with meaningless killing, then play Postal2. I tried it out. Finished it in one day and got bored with it. There is no challenge in that kind of game.  :(

Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Cobra2 on March 05, 2007, 09:33:48 PM
I agree with you there too Viggen. Meaningless killing is so unrealistic...that just drags the game way down. Tactics, realism, strategy, planning, teamwork, and authentic vehicles and weapons is what makes a game fun.  :)

Just want to thanx everyone for noticing  me. I will try to get back to topic here .

Realistic games kan be fun but sometimes in the gaming world you dont want any realism. Just becuse all thing that happens around the world. So once in a while its just nice to be why out there and play something that you know will never happen, and in  you flirt with your own ego (like the matrix jumpig houses).

Like for my exempel i played alot of Halo CE and Halo2. It felt good sometimes and throw a grenade into a bunch of enemies and just see them fly all over the place just becuse grunts are unreal. If it was realistic it wouldent be so joyable.

Its pretty funny that you call yourself the aviator. But i fly better then you in BF2 ( Choppers not included  ;) ). And you should be nice to Halo cause i will force you to play Halo 3 and you  will  do it with a sunshine smile and a big teeth grin.  >:D

I dont call myself the aviator, its aggressor-01 in BF2. However if you knew anything about flying and weapons,. You would realise that BF2 simulates the aircraft and their weapons very bad.  So by flying as flying should be done, you actually get shot down. In this game speed kills you, not the enemy.  :P

Btw, you will never get me to play Halo3. I cant play those kind of games with a gamepad. Thats why you owned my behind. I suggest you try out Flightsim2004 and try to land a 747 with a gamepad.

Whenever you up for som dogfightinfg one on one in BF2, give me a shout and i prove that your not the better pilot.  :)

Halo is a game built just for the xbox. It got great sensetivity in the aiming and good movement for playing with a gamepad. For the first time a consol game got better aim then the Pc version.

Not everybody likes to sit infront off a Pc all the time and thats one thing thats good with halo you can sitt 4 or even 16 friends in sofas and chairs and just slaughter each other  ::).

I often play multiplayer and Halo 1 (CE) is the one i liked most. Halo CE is more one man army you can easly kill all opponents by yourself. Halo 2 is more Teamplay almost like chess sometimes. One wrong move and the whole team can be punished.

Both Halo CE and Halo 2 have had stunning graphics for the time it was released. Its just very nice enviroments .  and some time breath taking (not so much anymore)

Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Draken on March 17, 2007, 01:08:20 AM
I don´t really now . The game developers need to take the flightsim games to another level. For someone like me to realistik is too hard and some times it takes the fun out of a game . Becuse when i play games i want to be entertained.

But i had lots of fun with Janes USAF (If thats the right name). But like i when i got  Over G fighters for my xbox 360. It lookt very nice but when you started to play it was almost non realism. And thats no fun either. You just shoot one missile and "mission complete".

Except from USAF i think the best flight games are WW2 based when there are only guns and fancy flying.

Viggen, once again I call for your help  ;D

I wanna download the BF2 demo PC version...because unlike the PS2 version you can fly airplanes and there is more helicopters and no fighting or team killing for them like what happens on PS2. I see that they say it is 540MB or something  :-\ Can you do that on a 256MB computer? A friend of mine has downloaded it and he is talking about how great it is  :( If it wont work on that then I could possibly do it on the other computer but I can't on this one. If it is just a demo then would I still need a graphics card? (PLEAASSSEEE DONT LET ME DOWN VIGGEN  :-\)
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Viggen on April 15, 2007, 08:00:57 PM
Yupp, you still need a graphics card.  The size of the BF2 demo file is 540Mb. When you say you have 256Mb computer, i reffer it to your internal memory. Check how much freespace you have available on your harddrive, if you have more then 1Gb, then your in the safe.  :)
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Cobra2 on April 15, 2007, 08:10:29 PM
How much is a GB in MBs?

And if I do have more than a GB would I still need a graphics card?
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Cobra2 on April 15, 2007, 08:12:29 PM
And also, your saying that the stuff outside doesnt matter? its what you see is available in the "My Computer" thing right?
Title: Re: Your favourite game
Post by: Viggen on April 15, 2007, 11:47:36 PM
Dubl-click in My Computer. Right click on C: choose Properties. 1000Mb = 1Gb

To be able to run a game like BF2, you always need a graphics card. Dosent matter how much internal memory or freespace you have on the harddrive. If you dont have a card, then its of no use for gaming.  Some games you might run on it, older ones for Win 95 and Win 98. But if you are looking at the newer ones that are meant to be used with Win2000/XP and now Vista. You are way out of your leuge. These games are just too "heavy", and contain so much effects and stuff that you must have a good card to be able to play them.

This is a PC-gamers curse. Every new game has some new technoligy that it requiers the latest cards and so on. But this is our own fault, we want better graphics, we want it to be able to look as realistic as possible. So the game developers gives us that. If we cant play it because of our graphics card are outdated,  we expect the card developers to manufactor some new ones that will be able to cope with it. Its an evil circle.  ;)

Btw, i forgot to post this link in my earlier post.

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

Choose the game you are intrested in, then click on test. It will take a little while,  but you will get  information if you are able to run the game of your choice. It will show where your PC fails and where your PC is good.  :)

Handy little tool for gamers.  ;D

I have, ah... 1.5 gigs of RAM? Reasonsble... And this pathetic Pentium 4.

What are your specs, Vigg?
Title: Re: Your favourite game

1 Terrabyte = 1000 Gigabyte

I have  a 200Gb HD,  a Pentium4  3.4Ghz.... 1Gb Ram and a 256Mb graphics card. With this i have no problems running BF2.

I dont think you should have any problems at all running a game like BF2.  :)

2.3 or 3.4GHz does not make a big diffrence today. Its mostly about the graphicscard you run and the RAM.

Im running on a P4 3.4GHz with 1Gb ram, and on Nvidia´s  256Mb XFX GeForce 7800GT graphics card (PCI-Express).
The card works great for me, but i would like to have 512Mb since 256Mb is just not enough for the new games, and it does not support Direct X 10.
