Title: Which Viggen paintjob?
Post by: Viggen on April 06, 2007, 12:36:20 AM
Help me out guys and vote for your favourite!

Im thinking of building myself another JA37 Viggen, been 11-13 years since the last one. When i buy my models i usally also buy the paint at the same time. But this time i cant decide for which scheme i should go for.  :)

I go for green camo!! It must be the most difficult to do, but you know, the pritiest is always the most difficult, or expensive ;D

So, GO GREEN CAMOU!!!

Exactly  ;D

So how much all together including paint, brushes, sprayers, model etc. is it to do a model airplane?

oh, cobra2, that depends greately on the model you choose to do ::)

Viggen, I think someone will have to paint it camouflaged ::) :D

The camo are not that hard to do, it just takes alot of time.  I´ve done it before on a AJ37 Viggen scale 1/72 for my cousins son. One of the best models i ever built. I also did a J35 Draken with a very detailed paintjob for him.

Today none of them exists, kids just dont appriciante the job you put into one of these models. They preffer to blow them up or see if they really can fly.   :(

lol ;D that must be painfull! you are working on a plane for a long time and the kid just throws it out of the window, believing it will fly  ::) i made some planes and when my mother cleanes up my room i always find some bits of my planes :(

Mothers are the biggest monsters of planes!!!!!!!!

Have you seen the photos of the Jaguar in the link I posted??
Have you seen it has no decals almost? I don't know how she got rid of them (without intention, bla, bla, bla), but I culd never find them again!!! :o

I know, i would of loved to have kept those two models for myself.  ;D

Mothers always feel the need to wipe stuff that are dusty, often with a damp rag or towel. This tends to remove the decals  just as effective as the dust.  8)

I also still have to "splinter" my Viggen.

Hey Viggen, maybe it's an idea to do a Gripen in the splinter camo after this one, just to see how it looks!

Yupp Globe, i went through all the images. Now dont try to paint the decals by hand on the "cat".  I actually tried to handpaint some of the numbers on my old Viggen. Looked like pure crap, but you are probably more steady on the hands then me.   :)

Yeah!  I have seen a drawing of the Gripen in that great camo-scheme. Its kind of dissapointing, it does not wear it as well as Viggen. But it did look good.  Gripen is a model i never have built so far, want to build one of them also soon. Going to use the NATO-scheme on that one.   ;D

Btw how is it going with the Viggen model?  :)

Gathering dusk, sitting on its fuselage fuel tank fins. Gear is painted and ready to be attached, just the camo, decals and canopy need to be done. It's a 1/72 kit, so not buying new paints for it, so the final paint scheme may be a bit off.
