Yup  ;D But our stuff is not crap Gripen. It will knock the socks off of anything thrown at us. And the Abrams...whew...dont wanna get in its way...the Leopard is really outdated...the M1A2 Abrams however is top technology.

The latest Leopards are also great. I think Australia still has/had Leopard I tanks? Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands have been cruising around in Leopard IIs for quite a while, and I think they were even improved and upgraded along the way.

However, it's funny we are discussing tanks here, when the topic subject are the most lethal opponents for tanks. Don't you think tanks are getting outdated, and any army having/buying large amounts of tanks is still thinking in terms of the cold war era situations and battlefields? It may be better to invest on mobile forces, fleet of tactical helicopters and attack helicopters to escort them and clear the battlefield of any opponent's tanks, if the air force hasn't already taken care of them!

  • We are not promised a tomorrow.
The new Leopard is actually often named as the greatest tank of all time to date. In most documetaries, this is the information given to the viewer. But i think i have to agree with Cobra2, or they both share first place.  :)

I still think tanks a crucial for the battlefield. You have to remember that they are great to hide behind when storming forward on foot. You need to catch your breath sometimes and reload, so why not behind a burnt out tank. ;)

Seriously, they are great tools  to have during city-battles. We have not seen the last of tanks yet for a long time.  As for a helicopter like the Apache, it is still number one.

Thanks viggen, and I agree about tanks being a crucial battlefield weapon. And like you said about storming a place on foot...foot soldiers couldnt do it without vehicles like the tank when your under heavy fire with no cover in a desert situation...or a hill or field etc.
