mig-29k, f-14.........have heard abt it alot..........imayb wrong, let others comment on that n' if im wrong then will c what others comment on that"LIFE FAVORS THOSE WHO DARE,WHO ARE BARELY RARE YET BELIEVE AND PLAY WITH CONVECTION AND OUTCLASS THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE BORN TO WIN THE HEARTS FOREVER"

alyster:
I'd go with JSF, coz of it's STOVL and stealth capability.

bhushan:

looks like jsf rules, but by when will it be flying for the u.s. navy

RecceJet:
Of the above aircraft, only the MiG-29, F-14 and F/A-18 have seen war-like conditions. If you're looking for the best naval fighter, the F-14 Tomcat will be at the top of the list. It was designed as a fighter based around the AIM-54 Phoenix missile, and would still give any other fighter a good run for their money. The F/A-18 Hornet is a multi-role aircraft, not specialising as much in the role of fighter as the F-14 does. The MiG-29 Fulcrum takes on a similar role to the F/A-18, though not as technologically advanced.

The JSF is still in the prototype phase, so we can only speculate on its future capabilities. The Dassault Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon have a potential, but I think if the Russians get Israeli help on their Su-33s, this Flanker variant will take the place of the F-14 in modern naval capability.
