J-10 maybe coming to Iran
« on: October 24, 2007, 06:17:28 PM »
According to the article the first deliveries maybe 2008 so if that holds out to be true some pre-training had to take place.   I assume the $1 billion dollars includes parts and weapons?    I always thought Iran would get J-10s and the Chinese Iranian connection surface because very few countries deal directly with Iran, China is one of them.   The state of Iran's air force is in bad shape and they need these aircraft badly and ASAP, military wise.   It will still take years to work up there pilots and maintenance crews to be operational but still a step in the right direction.   One can also assume from this Russia isn't delivering any Flankers or Mig-35s to Iran thus the reason for going Chinese.  If true Iran will get J-10s before Pakistan that's interesting because the PAF ordered a squadron of 36 aircraft right after the JF-17 order.   Time will tell.

China denies reports it will sell fighter jets to Iran
 The Associated Press
Thursday, October 25, 2007

BEIJING: China denied Thursday published reports it had agreed to sell its homegrown fighter jets to Iran, saying no talks had taken place.

Reports in Russian and Israeli media said Iran had signed a deal with China to purchase two dozen of its home-designed fighter jets known as the J-10, which could signal greater military cooperation between the countries at a time of continued tension between Iran and the West over its nuclear program.

Next month, we'll have a Chinese report claiming that France will supply Rafales to Iran?

Can't get more ironic than that! The Israeli Lavi project loses funding and a few decades later the Iranians are flying it!
