Plane of the year.
« on: December 19, 2005, 05:05:58 PM »
It's the end of the year and eveybody are choosing the man of the year or the good thing of the year etc. So I tought we could chose the plane of the year.

If something important is missing from the list, let me know.

For me, it will be the F-14 Tomcat. In his last year of opperation and airshow performance.
I will really miss this aircraft in the coming years.  :-[ :'(

Regards, Ramon.

I was actually torn betwwen the Gripen and the SU-27. I find the russian aircraft better overall, but since im so patriotic i had to go with the Gripen. Besides, SAAB made some good deals and it is actually competing on the market.  :)

So why then would the Su-27 be plane of the year? This poll is not about which aircraft is better. I think 2005 has been the year with the lowest achievements with regards to production, contracts or development for the Su-27 since 1991-1993 perhaps. The only exception being the continued production of the Su-30MKI for 2005.

Having said that. it has certainly been the plane of the year for this website, since I added the Flanker sections this year.

Ok, sorry...Then the Flanker could be the plane of the year because of it looks. Or why not SAAB37 Viggen since it retired this year after 30 years in service.  :)

Typhoon, since the Saudis made a small gift to the UK, Spain, Italy and Germany.

Why does Tomcat get 40% of the votes with it's goodbye and Viggen gets 0?
Did Green Day  - Time of Your Life  have such a big impact with people's hart on the Tomcat goodbye video?
