Good call, I almost forgot about our annual vote.

2005: F-14 Tomcat
2006: JAS-39 Gripen
2007: Typhoon

Took the freedom of editing your list a bit.

Is this a secret vote or can we say what we voted for?

No, it's not a secret vote. In past years the most interesting have been the comment on why someone picked the plane they picked.

I went with the Rafale this time seeing that took part in some operations and seem to mature this year overall.  The Typhoon was hard not to pick and for third that runs into many aircraft just too difficult.

I voted for the -22 just based on reputation, even though it seems a bit underarmed for the stealthy air-to-air role, and it's not truly multi-role until new multi role weapons are designed that will fit inside.

I haven't had my finger on the pulse of annual fighter activity and performance, but I'd vote for the F-22 for the same reasons as Shawn A. It's a true fighter and I think if it ever goes into a fight it will win hands down... unless they fly over the international date line...

The only problem is that I tried to vote and I got a message that the poll was either locked or I had already voted. The F-22 should have an extra vote from me.

If the F-22 project ever gets enough funding to develop a Strike Eagle equivalent I think it will take the title of best strike, multi-role and fighter aircraft.

I also vote for the Raptor (F-22) for not because it's country of origin, I just feel it's the most capable weapons platform. I LOVE the Gripen (I LOVED the Drakken). The F-22 has technology far beyond that of it's rivals, including superior fire control systems, Stealth capability, supersonic cruise (Mach without afterburner), vectored thrust. Granted, it may not be able to have a weapons load like a non-stealth aircraft but you can't have it both ways. Just my .02 cents.

The Gripen is such a sexy bitch!  ;)

I like the red Croatian one

Reece, if you added your vote to the Rapto..It'd still lose  ;D
