Title: SAAB question
Post by: F-111 C/C on January 12, 2009, 04:40:53 PM
I know General Motors owns (or has controlling interest in) SAAB automobile division. Does any of that ownership include the Aircraft company? If not, is the company a government controlled one, or private, or public?

Interesting topic
I heard that SAAB was going to bankrupsy, does this include the aircraft devision of the company? Will we start saying SAAB Gripen or Dassault Gripen or Boeing Gripen or whatever Gripen?

Nope. The company is private.
Here is a map of how the company is set up.

Thanks for the "map" Patrik. I didn't realize they are involved in so many different things.

As you noticed, cars are just one "small" part of the company, however this part is sold to GM as you know. The big bucks comes from all the military hard/software they are involved in and that stays under Swedish ownership and control.  :)
