Title: The A-6E Intruder
Post by: Cobra2 on October 29, 2006, 11:54:22 PM
Does anyone know if the A-6E Intruder has air-to-air capability? Because one of my models I recenly bought has what looks to be air-to-air missles. Someone please answer.

Yes, the E model can be equipped with the AIM-9L/M Sidewinder, but I am not sure if they were used, after all the A-6 probably relied on fighter escorts anyway for defence. But those missiles...are you sure they are not AGMs? Because they can be AGM-45 Shrike missiles for example, which look quite like the AIM-7.

No, it looked more like 4 AIM-9 Sidewinders. You can tell by the front fins...there right up front like the AIM-9L/M AAM. Thank you for answering me Webmaster.

Is the missle body wide? If it is they could be AGM-12 Bullpup missiles.

No, its just big enough to get about 1 or 2 inches from the end of the wing. And its really thin to...I think its an AAM.
