A video of a U.S. Navy SEAL extraction by Chinook
« on: June 13, 2009, 09:25:21 AM »

A video of a  U.S. Navy SEAL extraction was filmed from inside an MH-47 Chinook helicopter.
The pilot has lowered the ramp, dipped the tail end into the water to partially flood the compartment,
(a manoeuvre that requires quite precise flying) and awaits the Navy SEALs to board in their F470 Zodiac.
Its awesome, one has to admire the skills of the Navy SEALs.  There very few Marine or Navy Chopper Pilots
who would attempt this, because its easy to lose lift and ditch the chopper.

Fantastic skill.

It isn't landing on the water El, it is hovering at water level and showing the incredible versatility of The Chinook in the hands of a skilled pilot.

Back  last year an Afghan family who had been passing information to allied forces had to be rescued as they had been compromised by locals and were in danger of being murdered by the Taliban.
This photo shows the Chinook hovering with it's ramp on the house roof whilst the family are rescued.

And considering the fact that the Chinook dates back to Vietnam-war-eras... Makes it even more awesome.  :o

A picture tells a thousand words they say. This one tells the story of just what some guys can do with the machines they fly.
You wanta help grandma up that notched pole to the roof?
