Title: The Ultimate Fighter
Post by: Gripen on October 14, 2006, 02:50:43 AM
What would you get if you took the best fighter in the world today (erm, seems to be the SU-27) and crammed it full of Western (American) avionics and such. Would it create a great plane or would it be a waste of money??

it would be a waste of money. For one, the Su-27 doesn't have the best airframe. And two, Western avionics and weapon delivery systems are designed for different purposes than Russian software technology. And again, most of the things America develops wouldn't fit into the Su-27. Mybe the Antonov An-124 'condor', just maybe.

The ultimate fighter would be an aircraft that could pull very high G´s without letting the pilot feel the effects of them.  ;)

The truly ultimate fighter would be every developer's dream: invulnerability

making a plane invulnerable would be good until the enemy works out how to do it aswell, then you would end up with two invinvible planes trying to kill each other

And a lot of wasted weapons. Or we could resort to WWII tactics. Kamikaze sounds fun...
