Anatolian Eagle 2008/3, a major multinational military air exercise, has begun at the third air base in the central Turkish province of Konya.

The United States joins the exercise with 16 F-16 jets, Italy with 3 Eurofighters, Israel with 5 F-16 and 5 F-15 jets and NATO with 2 Awacs.

The exercise will end on September 16th.

The first Anatolian Eagle exercise took place from April 28th to May 16th while the second was held on June 9th and 20th, 2008 with the participation of jets from Turkey, the United States, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and NATO.

Air forces of foreign commands show great interest in the exercise since the Third Air Base in Konya has the largest training area in Europe.
