The House Armed Services Committee will be the first to publicly grill the Air Force about the tanker contract that the GAO decided was bid unfairly.
At the witness table Thursday will be John Young, undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics; Sue Payton, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition; Dan Gordon, GAO's deputy general counsel; and Michael Golden, managing associate general counsel for the procurement law division of GAO.
Considering the GAO found a lot wrong with how the Air Force handled the bidding process between Boeing and Northrop Grumman/EADS, it could be interesting to see the interaction there.
The hearing is in front of the subcommittee on air and land forces, chaired by Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii, but Alabama has two members on the full committee: Reps. Terry Everett and Mike Rogers.
