srael's Elbit Systems wins $20 mln UAV contract TEL AVIV, July 7 (Reuters) - Israeli defence firm Elbit Systems Ltd (ESLT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it won a contract worth $20 million to supply its Hermes 450 unmanned air vehicles (UAV) to an unnamed European country.
The order is for air vehicles and associated ground systems, to be delivered during 2009, Elbit (ESLT.TA: Quote, Profile, Research) said in a statement.
The Hermes is the Israel Defence Forces' primary UAV system as well as the basis for the UK Armed Forces' Watchkeeper programme, the largest UAV programme in Europe.
The Hermes 450 UAVs are used extensively in armies worldwide, including active war zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan. (Reporting by Tova Cohen; Editing by David Holmes)
