Dutch said to finally back JSF project
Friday 29 February 2008
The cabinet is set to give the final go-ahead to Dutch participation in the controversial JSF fighter jet project, news magazine Elsevier reports on Friday, quoting defence ministry sources. Labour party (PvdA) objections to the cost and likely success of the aircraft had been the remaining stumbling block, Elsevier says. The cabinet is investing €5.7bn in the new fighter jet, some €205m above the current budget, Elsevier says. Dutch participation in the JSF programme was first mooted in 2002 when Wim Kok (PvdA) was prime minister.
