Airmen injured in RAF jet crashTwo airmen are being treated for suspected back injuries after a Hawk jet crash-landed in the car park of a military airbase in Lincolnshire.
The two crew members ejected from the plane, which landed next to the air traffic control tower of RAF Cranwell.
The RAF confirmed the jet came down in the bounds of the airfield. Around 20 firefighters were sent to the scene.
An RAF spokesman confirmed both crew ejected safely and their next of kin had been informed.
He said: "We do not know what caused this incident, however, a Board of Inquiry is being established to investigate all aspects of the crash.
The civilian air ambulance attended the scene along with an RAF search and rescue helicopter.
Noel Chapman of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The aircraft itself came to a standstill in the car park, adjacent to air traffic control.
"There's some damage to the aircraft and there was also some damage to three vehicles that were in the car park.
"The scene is just being covered by RAF fire crews and they will be on standby overnight until the investigations start tomorrow."
The airmen were taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre for treatment following the crash, which happened at 1405 BST.
