Mitsubishi Heavy workers fined Y500,000 over fighter jet accidentuesday 06th January, 05:42 AM JST
NAGOYA —
The Nagoya Summary Court has ordered three Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd employees to pay a fine of 500,000 yen each for causing a fire on an Air Self-Defense Force jet fighter at an airport in Aichi Prefecture in 2007 that led to its two crew members sustaining injuries, informed sources said Monday.
According to the indictment, the three, who were in charge of maintenance for the F-2 support fighter, erroneously wired equipment related to detecting the aircraft’s positional changes without confirming the identification tags attached to the lines in July 2007, thereby causing the accident in October the same year.
