Dat heeft het ministerie van Defensie zaterdag bekendgemaakt. Onder begeleiding van een tweede jachtvliegtuig van de luchtmacht wordt het elftal naar de luchthaven Schiphol gevlogen. Daar zal het team met een Chinook-helikopter van Defensie verder vliegen.

An orange-coloured F-16 of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force) will escort the aircraft carrying the Dutch football team once it enters Dutch airspace. Once the team has arrived at Schipol international airport, they will continue the remainder of their journey by CH-47 Chinook.

So any more photos of the F-16? I love the Oranje paint-job! I wish Australia did the same for Australian sporting heroes.

for the record, the jet is the RNLAF F-16 demo, its paint job was not applied for the world cup... ONE TEAM refers to the airforce... but it fits nicely with the football team as well.

Maybe the second F-16 in the escort will wear some special sticker, but if it said world champions, then guess not.

That explains the lack of the letters KNVB on the aircraft then! I'd be impressed if the Chinook was orange, though.
