Prince Felipe full of praise for new Eurofighter By: thinkSPAIN
"It's the perfect machine," exclaimed the heir to the Spanish throne after his first flight at the controls of the new Eurofighter yesterday.
"We're really at the cutting edge," continued the prince after enjoying a 45-minute jaunt over Cádiz bay accompanied by former flight academy buddy, Commander Manuel de la Chica, who sat in front. Prince Felipe had trained for the flight on a simulator.
The Eurofighter, 14% of which is built in Spain, is a joint effort also involving British, French, German and Italian manufacturers.
The Spanish Air Force currently have 20 Eurofighters, all of which are based in Morón de la Frontera (Sevilla), from where the prince and his co-pilot took off yesterday, and have placed orders for 87 more.
