Raptor squadron from Langley deploying to Japan

HAMPTON

About 500 airmen from the 27th Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base are deploying today and Wednesday to Kadena Air Base in Japan.

The F-22 Raptor squadron will spend three months training and performing security operations. The Raptors are the U.S. Air Force’s newest attack fighter jet.

Airmen are scheduled to depart from Langley Air Force Base today and Wednesday; pilots are scheduled to fly out with 12 F-22s on Wednesday. Another squadron of F-22 Raptors from Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska will to deploy to Guam.
