Malaysia has yet to take delivery of six more Russian Sukhoi fighter jets, said Air Force Chief, General Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin today.
“Not yet. Six more to go,” he said when asked if all the 18 Sukhoi Su-30MKM multi-role fighters have been delivered.

He said the air force would receive the remaining Sukhoi jets in due course.

Azizan was speaking to reporters after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi officiated The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) 2009 here, today.

Meanwhile, on the purchase of 12 Eurocopter’s EC 725 Cougar, Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusop said it remained on hold until the government had enough funds to go ahead with the deal.
“The deal was put on hold due to the global economic situation,” he said.
