Kuwait says Rafale worth "serious consideration"
KUWAIT, June 2 (Reuters) - Kuwait's defence minister said on Tuesday that buying Rafale fighter aircraft was worth "serious consideration", the official Kuwait News Agency reported.

"On a Rafale French military aircraft deal, Sheikh Jaber al-Hamad al-Sabah said the issue will be looked at, noting that the French aircraft's high quality and advanced technology demands serious consideration with regard to buying them," the agency said.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said in February that Paris and Kuwait were in talks on a possible sale of warships and 14-28 Rafale fighter aircraft. Dassault Aviation (AVMD.PA) has yet to find a foreign buyer for its Rafale aircraft.

Sheikh Jaber, also deputy prime minister, said Kuwait's ruler discussed buying a nuclear reactor from France with Sarkozy during his visit to Kuwait in February. He gave no further details.

Following a meeting with Sarkozy in Paris in March, Sheikh Jaber said that both countries will cooperate over nuclear energy for civilian use and hinted that Kuwait could take a stake in French nuclear group Areva (CEPFi.PA). [ID:nLD519170] (Reporting by Eman Goma; Editing by Louise Ireland)

Somebody wake up Boeing... another Hornet operator looking for new planes. They should go in with a great Super Hornet offer they can't refuse and do it fast.

There two fighters are like my favorite two types right now nothing but good things about both types.  I would like to see and non carrier model Super Hornet built, I know designs and production lines would have to change.  I know it wouldn't happen but I can dream.

Overall I would like to see the Super Hornet 2 tons lighter and the Rafale with a 2nd generation ASEA radar in it.  I didn't realize the Rafale is like 3+ tons lighter must be nimble in the turns.  The SH is truly a 4th + generation platform and does everything except drop naval mines.

Kuwait future aircraft sales
I think who ever is stronger politically at the time will get the order but still find anything bad written about Kuwait's Hornets.    On a squadron level Iran's old Mig-29a and F-5 paste on fighters aren't match a match against Kuwaiti pilots flying nine, ten years experience flying C/D Hornets.  I would assume Kuwait's pilots train mainly air to air and get flying time against American Marine, Air Force, and Navy pilots in region.  Its a safe bet they can afford the aviation fuel for training. heheheh
