Title: M2 Brownings on the F-86
Post by: Alan Shufeldt on January 09, 2009, 06:17:07 PM
Hello,
I am in the middle of writing a novel, in which, one of the characters is an F-86. I want to maintain historical and technical accuracy. I am interested in the exact procedure for arming and safe-ing the 50 cals. I know about the switch in the cockpit, but, is it on the dash or the stick. Also, I assume that this switch only arms the trigger, and not the actual guns. Is this correct? I was told that a mechanic arms the guns when he loads the ammo. What, exactly, does he do? Is it as simple as pulling the slide on the Browning, and chambering the round in all six guns? And also, where does the panel open for access to loading the ammo?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks !!!
