Title: Whats you favorite WWII fighters?

Vote for you favourite WWII fighter planes  ;D and ya know whats even better? vote for 5 of them!!!  :o
I'm sure there is other WWII buffs here other than me  :D so go ahead and give us your oppinion.
But you cant change your vote so choose carefuly  ;) have fun!!


PS: Incuding all variants (ie P-40: P-40, P-40N, P-40B etc.)

I would have to say the P-47 Thunderbolt - especially the P-47N which was specifically built for the Pacific theater and had a greater range than the D model. The N model had a redesigned and strengthened wings with 18 extra inches of wingspan plus larger ailterons and square-cut tips which increased the T-bolt's roll rate and increased maneuverability and a top speed of 460 m.p.h.

This model I particularly loved plus all T-bolts could give a lot of punishment with its EIGHT not six, 50-caliber machine guns and it could take a lot a punishment in return.  The Mustang couldn't, even though the 'Stang was a better dogfighter. 

Cobra, you forgot two great warbirds that made a difference in the Pacific - the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair - both were excellent Zero killers and both made a big difference in the war.

I like both the F4-U nad the Focke Wulf... they are both excellent and more than nice machines :)

The Thunderbolt is more like a flying tank, really strong and somehow nice... But F4-u has its style, and what style!!! >:D

I did say the P-47, but man, I love those old WW2 warbirds - here's my favorites in no particular order _
1. P-47 Thunderbolt  "The Jug"
2. F4U Corsair  "Whistling Death"
3. P-38 Lightning  "Fork-Tailed Devil"
4.F6F Hellcat  "Zero Killer"
5.P-40 Warhawk
6. Hawker Typhoon & Tempest
7. Supermarine Spitfire (late models)
8. FW-190  (D9 Version)
9. Hayate "Frank"
10. Kawanishi "George"

Hope I got them all.

Hello guys,

For me also a far to long list, but two aircrafts are on my "hotlist"  :D

The F4U Corsair "Whistling Death" is for me the most beautifull aircraft, it could
outperform any other "allied" aircraft, and was a hell for the A6 Zero. It was not
without any reason that they choose the above named "nick name".

And my other favourite aircraft is more a combination of a fighter and bomber,
the always beautifull P-38 Lightning.

My two top favorites are the P-51D and the BF-109, awesome planes, I would like to fly one, one day if there are any left flying when I am able to fly.

The Bubble Canopy Mustang looks quite ugly, actually...  :P
