Airbus faces fresh delays in A400M program - report
FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - EADS unit Airbus is facing fresh delays in its A400M program due to a lack of cooperation between its Spanish and French factories, WirtschaftsWoche reported, citing an unnamed Airbus manager.

'The French don't want to help the Spaniards to solve their problems in production,' the magazine cited the manager as saying.

The program is now delayed by more than a year as the company struggles to finish putting together its flight cabins and cockpits.

In addition, supplier MTU Aero Engines is having trouble fixing problems with the A400M engine's control systems, the magazine said.

According to the magazine, Airbus has already had to turn down a chance to win a 6 billion euro order for 68 military transport planes because delays in its A400M programme would have prevented it from delivering the aircraft on time.

The U.S. defence ministry has invited Airbus to participate in the tender for the planes, it said.
